Andrea is great! One of my sons is dyslexic and was identified in 2nd grade. He’s been tutoring with Andrea for 5 years and is currently in book 8 of the Barton Program. His disability is complex because he is a 2E student. Andrea is always patient and progresses at my son’s slower pace. He loves his time tutoring together because Andrea always makes it enjoyable. My other son tutors with Andrea as well. He was struggling (self admitted) with his spelling and reading comprehension in 7th grade. He started last summer with Andrea and has moved through the program at a much quicker pace. This year in school I see a more confident student in him. He is able to spell better, understand text at a higher level and compose his writing more efficiently. Both boys have greatly benefited from their relationship and time spent with Andrea.

Hi, my name is Ashton and I have been going to Andrea since I was in second grade. When I came to Andrea I could only spell three letter words like fox and box and I told her all I wanted to do was read at my grade level. Now I can read high school level words in seventh grade! Also, because I have dyslexia and dysgraphia I was never very good at English. After starting with grammar I am now improving. Now at last I got my first ever A in English! We do these grammar books every time I come in — we do one lesson at a time. Now I make a quarter of the mistakes I used to. I think coming to tutor with Andrea has been very helpful.

Hi, my name is Oliver and I have been tutoring with Miss Andrea for about four years. I find that her teaching stuff is much more explanatory than what the schools teach you. She tells you the way things work and how they work. She also gives us much more practice than school. Miss Andrea tells me why I do things and how to do it. I also remember information better because we repeat much more often. We also use rules and catchy sayings and words to remember the word rules. We also get to play fun games like Car Racing, Frog Matching, and Slap It!

Since I have been in tutoring, I have learned multiple different rules that have helped me improve my skills and have boosted my will to want to read. Tutoring has also helped me with my confidence in spelling, reading out loud, and comprehension. I have also learned how to write in cursive, and now I am proud of my hand writing. It helps me spell words better, and it looks more professional. I am thankful for having the time to meet with Andrea.

I have been seeing Andrea for three years now. Cursive is great because it makes my handwriting better. It also makes me write faster and it helps me with my spelling. Reading is more fun with Andrea and helps with my confidence. It also helps me to find new words. I can use my syllable splits for a word I don’t know. I like learning the parts of speech in grammar. I also like how grammar shows you where to put commas. I find it helpful to learn new spelling rules like Rise Rice. It helps with spelling words and I also like the suffix rules. I’m thankful I get to work with Andrea.

Ever since Andrea and I have started tutoring I have seen massive growth in all aspects on my life. One of the main things that I have seen is my vocabulary and the words I choose to use both in my writing and just how I speak to my friends and family, I have become comfortable and overall more confident in myself as I now know that what I say to other people makes sense. Before I started tutoring with Andrea I would always double check the words I was about to say out of fear that I might say or write some gibberish. Another thing I have appreciated learning is cursive. Cursive is something that most people overlook but can really make you stand out when it comes to getting a job or college applications. Andrea is a great person, very motivating, and a person to talk, and really cares about me and my feelings.

Andrea has been a huge asset for our family. She instilled reading and writing rules that made sense to our children. By doing so she has given them the confidence for success in the classroom. Her dedication shows in her joy of teaching. She is an incredible advocate for our children at their schools. We will be forever grateful for meeting Andrea and having her in our lives working with our children.
